The piano is a central instrument in Romantic virtuosity, to which Sergei Rachmaninoff was an heir. In the era of sound recording and broadcasting, the composer and pianist saw his music widely disseminated. In the year marking the 150th anniversary of his birth, this recital consists of two very special works. Two pianos and two pianists present two suites. Russian and English poems inspired the first work, a piece written in his youth, which conveys a literary ambience. This contrasts with the stylization of traditional Italian dances in the second suite. An arena in which two virtuosos will contend and complement each other, through underlining the potentialities of the piano.
