Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música Christian Zacharias piano e direcção musical Johannes Brahms Serenata n.º 2, op. 16 Robert Schumann Introdução e Allegro appasionato, para piano e orquestra - Robert Schumann Sinfonia n.º 4 em Ré menor, op. 120 The connection between Robert Schumann and Brahms was central to Germanic Romanticism. The prominent virtuosity of the Introduction and Allegro appasionato and the expressiveness of Symphony No. 4 present distinct facets of the former’s style. Ambiguity, density, and contrast dominate a philosophical approach to music. Brahms’ songs for choir and orchestra reveal a little-known facet of the composer, namely the transformation of Germanic poetry through the symphonic ideal.
