ORQUESTRA SINFÓNICA DO PORTO CASA DA MÚSICA NUNO COELHO direcção musical RICHARD WAGNER Abertura de Tannhäuser P. I. TCHAIKOVSKI Romeu e Julieta — IGOR STRAVINSKI Petrushka A concert filled with stories that capture our senses, starting with the Overture of an opera by Wagner dedicated to the eternal struggle between sacred and profane love. With Tchaikovsky, creator of immortal ballets and symphonies that linger in our ears, we delve into the story of the most famous twosome in all of literature, Romeo and Juliet. The composer's genius is clearly evident in the way he uses orchestration to communicate the action and settings of the text, between the tragedy of two enemy families and an impossible and overwhelming love. Finally, one of Stravinsky's famous ballets: Petrushka uses the urban tradition of puppet theatre and tells the misfortunes of a puppet in love with a ballerina. The direction is by Nuno Coelho, a conductor from Porto with an international career on the rise since he won the Cadaqués International Competition, in 2017.
