Much has been said about Brad Mehldau: that he makes superb use of his classical training and technique, that he turns jazz standards into Bachian fugues, that he makes jazz diamonds from rock hits, or more prosaic things such that he has two brains or that he is not of this world. The name Brad Mehldau is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in contemporary jazz and he is one of the most brilliant composers and pianists of recent decades. The concert that is bringing him back to Casa da Música has a trio format, playing along with Jeff Ballard and Larry Grenadier, and is therefore not to be missed.
