  • The reunion of drummer João Pais Filipe and electronics wizard Burnt Friedman had its first physical record with the edition of Eurydike, by Nonplace. The split-EP included two tracks recorded by this duo and two others captured in 2016 by Friedman with legendary German drummer Jaki Liebezeit (founder of the experimental rock band Can). In the duo with Pais Filipe, Friedman's interest in percussion is still present in a sound that explores all its timbral, harmonic and rhythmic particularities in collusion with electronic processes, in a hypnotic and circular flow of (false) repetition that they themselves call “automatic music”. Known for his solo work, percussionist João Pais Filipe has taken part in many projects such as HHY & The Macumbas, CZN and Paisiel, and collaborated with Z’EV, Fritz Hauser and Manongo Mujica. Meanwhile, Burnt Friedman, with a career that dates back to the late 70s with TOXH, a duo with Wolfram Spyra, has been relentless in creating possible futures through projects as admirable as Some More Crime, Drome, Nonplace Urban Field, Flanger (with Atom Heart) or Nine Horses with David Sylvian.
