  • Jörg Widman's first lieder cycle - Das heiße Herz (The Hot Heart) - was written about lesser-known poems from the celebrated collection Des Knaben Wunderhorn, which greatly inspired the Germanic composers of Romanticism along with other poems by Klabund, Brentano and Härtling. They are radically simple and genuine texts that point to the heart. Brahms was also a prolific author of songs, but what brings him to this concert is his Third Symphony, with brushstrokes of mystery and enigmatic harmonies that leave us floating on air. In its luminous third movement, he included one of the most celebrated melodies of symphonic music, so much so that it has been repeatedly adapted to popular culture.
