Cordel is the project of Edu Mundo, a poet and natural storyteller, and João Pires, a composer, guitarist and geographer of his own musical map - a pair of singer-songwriters who have written for artists such as Ana Moura, Aline Frazão, Sara Tavares, António Zambujo and Omara Portuondo. Cordel is a deep dive into the roots of Portuguese music and its Lusophone ramifications, without labels or limitations, that combines traditional sonorities like chula, vira, fado and even marchas populares, with African and Brazilian rhythms. The lyrics revive the popular poetry of the cordel literature.
