Concert Casa da Música Choir Classical music Simphonic Orchestra

Coro de Berio

Francesco Filidei premieres another one of his pieces in Porto, this time a concerto for piano and orchestra, in a late afternoon entirely devoted to our Theme Country. Both the conductor and the soloist are visiting Casa da Música for the first time: Tito Ceccherini is the founder of the prestigious ensemble Risognanze and an advocate of contemporary music; Maurizio Baglini won the Chopin Competition and, at the age of 24, the World Music Piano Master in Montecarlo. The program is complete with an emblematic piece of 20th century Italian music. Conceived as a musical transposition of the Festas de l’Unità, Coro for forty voices and instruments is a kind of anthology that brings together different techniques and musical styles. Despite being a pioneer of electronic music and an experimentalist, Luciano Berio has always shown a great connection to popular traditions, and this work is a perfect example of it.
