Orquestra Barroca and Orquestra Sinfónica celebrate one of the most important instrumental genres of the Baroque period: the concerto grosso. The program includes the music of Arcangelo Corelli, who was responsible for elevating this form to its maximum perfection, as well as that of others who were in charge of spreading the Corelian model throughout Europe, such as his disciple Francesco Geminiani and his British admirer Charles Avison. The concert features an award-winning cellist, Pieter Wispelwey, who, together with Orquestra Sinfónica, performs one of the most important works in the instrument's repertoire: a Haydn concert rediscovered in the mid-60s.
