Einstürzende Neubauten

One of the most significant bands of early 1980s industrial rock, Einstürzende Neubauten chose a path that led them to new sounds, influences, and the assimilation of elements that have balanced their original radical ideas with some more conventional rock features. The historic West Berlin band has just celebrated four decades of a career that began with a revolutionary vigour and the experimental use of sounds coming from contemporary cities in decay. With metal debris, tools taken from buildings under construction or garbage cans, combined with tape editing, distorted loops, electronics, out of tune guitars and watchwords, the band's first album, Kollaps, declared war on every conventional listening habit and influenced artists like the Depeche Mode, Marilyn Manson or Nine Inch Nails.
