For the sake of a comprehensive and diversified education, students of the Jazz course of ESMAE are encouraged to develop skills in the areas of performance, improvisation, theory, composition and arrangements. That is why ESMAE Big Band is an orchestra composed of students of the Jazz course who, in a tradition that goes back to the great leaders of the past - Duke Ellington, Thad Jones or Bob Brookmeyer -, combine the musician and the composer in one universe where improvisation is a fundamental element of musical work. In this concert the orchestra will perform some original compositions written by the students.
