The planet and the environment have formed the inspiration for the programming of this concert which brings together innovative musical approaches that, precisely in the last hundred years, remind us that the preservation of Nature is not optional. Darius Milhaud was inspired by African myths to explain the creation of the world, in using jazz to connect Africa to the Americas. Climate change has upset the seasons. Given this, Sciarrino revisits Vivaldi’s Four Seasons through an avant-garde prism. The Australian Liza Lim has drawn inspiration from aboriginal culture to write an intense piece about humanity’s relationship with planet Earth.
