Karlheinz Stockhausen Hymnen (3.ª Região)

Maderna’s Concerto No. 1 for oboe and ensemble is illustrative of the tendency of the musical avant-garde to produce virtuosic works for soloists. The arrangement of Boulez’s Douze Notations intensifies the work’s creative impulse, which links Messiaen’s influence to serialism. The Hymnen section, a work for electronics and orchestra based on national anthems, found a prestigious dedicatee in John Cage, whose approach marked Stockhausen’s output.
