The sombre, dark tone of Mozart’s Masonic Funeral Music, where we can hear a quotation from Michael Haydn’s Requiem, could not contrast more with the festive atmosphere of Exsultate, jubilate, a favourite motet that provides us with the chance to hear the voice of the acclaimed Ukrainian soprano and Frankfurt Opera soloist Kateryna Kasper.

As part of the operatic repertoire, Parsifal, portraying his epic quest for the Holy Grail, has a germinal connection with Easter, which is why it has been included in this programme. Of especial note here is the presence of the baritone Christian Miedl, to give voice to the character Amfortas, King of the Knights of the Holy Grail.
