Witold Lutosławski Concerto para Orquestra

Modernism in Hungary was very much connected with the discovery and recovery of traditional music. Following Bartók’s footsteps, Lutosławski was engaged in writing patriotic works at a difficult time for Poland. The legacy of the Second World War and the regime that followed it constrained the output of many artists. Lutosławski reconciled the avant-garde and tradition in his Concerto for orchestra, providing a gateway for the public to the music of the second half of the 20th century.
