Venezuelan conductor Carlos Izcaray runs a program entirely dedicated to the American continent. While the Argentine Alberto Ginastera brings us the nostalgia for the great melodies enriched by orchestral virtuosity, the Mexican Silvestre Revueltas focuses on Caribbean dance rhythms, with an attractive and good-humoured language that has earned him comparisons with Stravinsky. The Russian composer, for his part, lived in the United States for three decades and wrote Dumbarton Oaks for the 30th wedding anniversary of Robert Woods Bliss and his wife Mildred, one of the most famous philanthropist couples in the country's history. A concert with great solos for the most diverse instruments of the orchestra, and where the rhythmic component is truly contagious.
