Ludwig van Beethoven Sinfonia n.º 3 em Mi bemol maior, “Heróica”

Symphony No. 3, the “Eroica”, marked a transformation of orchestral writing in the 19th century. One might even say that there is a before and after to this symphony, which was bewildering to the melomaniacs of the time. Amidst the Year of Germany, this concert includes two significant premieres in Portugal. From Enno Poppe, Artist in Residence, Augen, a song cycle based on poems by Else Lasker-Schüler that explores the expressionism of the Weimar Republic as recorded by one of its bohemian protagonists. Klaus Ospald is an award-winning German composer whose experimental concerto for piano and wind instruments is promising to join the pantheon of contemporary music. Soloists in the world premiere of these works are, respectively, Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Sarah Maria Sun, who will be here in the Casa to ensure flawless interpretations.
