FRANK WINTTERBOTTOM) Capriccio espagnol OSCAR NAVARRO Concerto n. º 2 para clarinete DUARTE PESTANA Arco Íris A regular guest at São João da Casa da Música, Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa brings a festive concert to Sala Suggia to celebrate the return of the longest evening of the year in Porto. From the exuberance of Spanish music, which inspired composers Rimski-Korsakoff and Oscar Navarro, to Shostakovich's fascination with jazz, the program goes through the colourful traditions of folk music and ends with an iconic piece from the Portuguese repertoire: Arco Íris by Duarte Pestana. Under the direction of its principal conductor Francisco Ferreira, Banda Sinfónica shares the stage with António Saiote, an internationally acclaimed Portuguese clarinettist and pedagogue.
